HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Two important things were on the agenda for the Holland City Council this week. The first was a presentation from representatives of the Holland in Bloom committee, where they donated the three awards that they won during the Art in Bloom Symposium this year. Holland was the winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award for Floral Displays, Winner of the Champions Category for Mid-Sized Cities and received a 5-bloom rating, which is the highest possible score under the judge’s evaluation system.
At the end of the meeting, Mayor Bob VandeVusse gave a heartfelt goodbye to the members of council and the audience, as he has to relinquish his title of Mayor to fellow member of council Nancy Deboer. Dave Hoekstra, among others gave speeches about how much Mayor VandeVusse loved the community.
