ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – A 47-year-old Zeeland man was airlifted to Spectrum Hospital early Sunday after he crashed into a tinker truck backing into a private drive near the intersection of Adams Street and 48th Avenue, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
Douglas Robert Yonker, 30, of Holland, was backing his tinker truck into a private drive to pick up milk from a farm at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. Deth Aksone Khounsobat, 47, of Zeeland Township, was driving eastbound on Adams Street near 48th when he struck Yonker’s vehicle as it was backing out of the drive.
According to Sgt. DeVries of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the tinker truck had it’s lights on along with a full light bar on the top of the cab which was operational at the time of the crash. Khounsobat was pinned in his vehicle and was extricated by the Zeeland Township Fire Rescue.
Khounsobat is listed in stable condition.
Responding agencies were Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office road patrol, Zeeland Township Fire Rescue and AMR ambulance.
