HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Two separate cases, four weeks apart, involving youths in Holland being taken by their mothers in order to avoid complying with court orders from Child Protective Services are moving forward with the children safe.
On Monday afternoon, two-year-old Jontaeshia Hines was surrendered to CPS staffers after the attorney for her mother, 27-year-old Tiffany Nichols, contacted Holland Public Safety and arranged for the return. Nichols and her 42-year-old boyfriend, Jim Lee-Junior Walker, had purported taken the child last Friday to avoid complying with the court order. At this point, no charges have been filed against Nichols and Junior Walker.
Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was executed on Monday against 22-year-old Shawn Williams, the boyfriend of 32-year-old Sarah Baird. The two were involved in a September 24th incident in which Baird’s seven-month-old son, Josiah, was allegedly taken by them instead of being handed over to CPS. Baird surrendered with the child the next day in South Haven and is currently free on bond after waiving a preliminary hearing on a felony kidnapping/custodial interference charge. Shawn Williams was arrested on the same count.
Both cases remain under investigation.
