HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Tomorrow is Sweetest Day. It falls on the third Saturday in October.
Legend has it that Sweetest Day was established around 1922 by Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio candy company employee who wanted to bring hapiness to the lives of those who often were forgotten.
Popular in the Midwest, it is celebrated in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Ohio. Other states include Missouri, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia and areas of New York and Pennsylvania.
So don’t forget your sweetie tomorrow. Flowers and chocolate will do just fine.
