HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The first permanent overnight street parking period in the City of Holland expires at dawn on Thursday. What was begun last year on an experimental basis became permanent, as proponents say that the decades-long ban on overnight street parking in the Tulip City led to many residences turning into parking lots, as vehicles were camped on lawns and yards in order to obey the ordinance. Opponents still say that allowing overnight parking from May through October poses safety hazards. Starting on Friday morning at 2 AM, any vehicle parked on Holland streets overnight will be subject to fines and tickets.
