UNDATED (WHTC) – It was a good Saturday on the road for the football teams of Ottawa County’s two institutions of higher learning.
In Rockford, Illinois, Hope College registered its first shutout in 50 games in blanking the host Regents, 34-0. The Flying Dutchmen limited the hosts to just 261 yards of total offense. The last time Hope whitewashed an opponent was on Oct. 2, 2010, a 38-0 blanking of visiting Alma at Holland Municipal Stadium. In Detroit, Grand Valley State scored four unanswered touchdowns to begin the second half in downing the host Wayne State Warriors, 38-17. Bart Williams threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns for the Lakers, who carry 4-1 overall and 3-1 GLIAC records into next Saturday’s game versus visiting Michigan Tech at Luebbers Stadium.
