UNDATED (WHTC) – Public school districts are adjusting spending plans after initial student counts on Wednesday that comprises 90 percent of how the state bases its per-pupil K-12 funding. Three of the six districts recorded losses, with Holland the most at 152, West Ottawa at around 40 and Hamilton at 20. Saugatuck was up 13 and Zeeland was up 10, while Fennville’s numbers are pending. The three local charter schools had mixed results, with Black River up 100, Eagle Crest down 25 and Vanderbilt down 17. The remaining 10 percent of state funding will be based on another count on February 3rd. Final October count numbers will be submitted to state Treasury Department officials later this month.
