Chicago, IL (WHTC) – Can you imagine your Thanksgiving table without a pumpkin pie? You may have to.
Libby’s the main supplier of canned pumpkin, says there is a shortage of pumpkins due to a wet June. Libby’s produces most of the nation’s canned pumpkin. A spokeswoman says the supply has been cut in half and the time to buy your canned pumpkin filling is now.
Normally the pumpkin harvest runs from the end of August into early November, but this year it ended Tuesday.
Illinois saw heavy rain fall early in the season and with 90 percent of the pumpkins for canning coming from the state, a shortage is inevitable.
There’s always apple pie right?
