Polkton Twp, MI (WHTC) – A 20-year old Marne resident is in the Ottawa County jail after he inhaled a duster can and blackout behind the wheel.
The driver whose name is being withheld, was westbound on Garfield just east of 68th Street in Polkton Township when he blacked out.
According to Sgt. Kristi Wendt of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the driver went off the south side of the roadway and struck a power pole causing causing the primary power lines to fall across Garfield Street and 68th Avenue, closing both roadways.
The intersection currently remains closed and will remain closed into the morning hours.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and was arrested for charges related to the traffic crash and his name is being withheld pending arraignment.
The Coopersville Fire Department assisted at the scene with Traffic Control.
