MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – There is good news for area beaches. No one drowned at any beaches in Muskegon County this summer. That’s the first time since 1982.
There were no drownings in Ottawa and Berrien counties this summer either. Muskegon County Marine Patrol Sergeant Todd Dunham says the new life vests and other rescue equipment installed along the shoreline has made an impact. The county will be adding more beach rescue stations next year.
With Hurricane Joaquin expected to hit the east coast, west Michigan can expect breezy conditions all weekend which always makes the waves higher at area beaches.
