MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – A 19-year-old Hudsonville man is in the Muskegon County Jail on 50 thousand dollars bond following an arraignment on unlawful imprisonment and attempted use of a dangerous weapon charges. Prosecutors say that Kalani Rei Tanis was masked when he barged into a parked car outside of a Fruitport discount goods store on Saturday afternoon and allegedly tried to pepper spray a woman with her two-year-old son in the backseat. She was able to repel the attack and honked the vehicle’s horn, scaring the suspect away. Tanis was arrested a short distance from the scene. His preliminary hearing is on October 13th.
