HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – Greater Ottawa County United Way officials say that 650 volunteers spread out in teams across the county last Thursday to help with 57 projects during the 15th annual Day of Caring event that kicked off the agency’s annual fundraising and volunteer recruitment drive. Activities included landscaping and yard work, removing trash and invasive species from parkland, processing donations and painting, with a dollar value estimated at over 100 thousand dollars. The United Way is aiming to collect 2.5 million dollars and gather 81 hundred volunteers over the next six months in this annual effort after raising over 2.3 million and getting around eight thousand people to volunteer their time.
