Funeral Slated for Former Holland Bar Stool Company Staffer Killed by Pickup-Driving Teen

WALKER, MI (WHTC) – A Friday morning funeral is scheduled for Becky Talsma, a 35-year-old Tallmadge Township mother of three who was killed on Sunday evening while jogging on Johnson Street east of 48^th Avenue. Deputies say that she was running westbound in the eastbound lane when a pickup truck that was passing another vehicle struck her; she died at the scene. The as-yet unnamed 16-year-old driver claimed that the glare from the setting sun prevented him from seeing Mrs. Talsma, who had worked at Holland Bar Stool for her mother-in-law before raising two sons and a daughter. The Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case before determining if charges will be filed.
