HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The drugs most often abused by teens don’t come from shady drug dealers or from someone who cooked them up in a garage. More often than not they come from medicine cabinets in the bathrooms of parents and grandparents.
Michigan State Police say residents can now stop by any of the department’s 29 posts during office hours to drop off unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
The state Capital is also collecting unwanted prescriptions until 1 p.m. today by the Department of Environmental Quality on this sixth annual Medication Disposal Event.
In Holland there is a drop box in the lobby of the Holland Police Department available anytime for residential drop off of unwanted or expired drugs. The following pharmacies also participate in the Holland area. http://www.cityofholland.com/solidwasteandrecycling/unwanted-or-expired-medications
The State is asking communities to dispose of medication to keep it out of the water system as low levels of prescription drugs have been found in Michigan’s surface and groundWater since the 1970’s.
