GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – After reaching its goal of 2.3 million dollars last March with several thousand dollars to spare, the Greater Ottawa County United Way is raising its annual fundraising bar to 2.5 million dollars. The charitable agency made the announcement during its 15th annual Day of Caring volunteer effort. The United Way is also seeking 41 hundred volunteers in conjunction with the fundraising campaign that runs through mid-March. Agency officials say that, for every dollar contributed, they can leverage it to $3.25 in benefits through grants and other fund-generating options. Leadership level challenges are also in place in both the Holland and Grand Haven areas.
In the video from the media luncheon held on Wednesday, Greater Ottawa County United Way President Patrick Moran is joined by Campaign Co-Chair John Gork, Director of Annual Campaign Tracy Plummer, Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving Louann Werksma, Director of Community Impact Liz DaLaLuz and Director of Volunteerism/Programs Shannon Morton in discussing the various aspects of the annual campaign.
