HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A morning fire closed the Russ’ Restaurant off of Lincoln Avenue and US-31 on Holland’s South Side. When Public Safety firefighters arrived at the scene around 10:45 AM, there were flames in the roofing material by the ventilation equipment. It took about 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control, containing it in that equipment, with no injuries to responding firefighters, restaurant staff or patrons. Investigators believe that the fire stared in a fryer and then spread up through the hood ventilation system. No damage cost estimate was initially made.
