ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) – Grand Valley State University announced enrollment of 25, 325 students for the just-begun academic year, an increase of 231, with 4,155 being first-time students. The overall mark is a record for the Allendale-based institution of higher learning, but new Lakers fell by 1.1 percent, the first such drop in four years. School President Thomas Haas used the term “stabilize” to describe the drop, saying that there is an overall downturn in the number of 18-year-olds statewide.
