MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – The Pearl Mist did not make its scheduled stop into Holland this week due to a freighter currently moored at the Verplank Dock on Lake Macatawa. An auxiliary dock couldn’t be found, so the Coast Guard gave verbal authorization for the 335-foot passenger ship that can carry over 200 passengers to lower anchor in the Port of Muskegon. The passengers then were bussed to Holland for the day. The Pearl Mist was kept docked in Holland an extra 24 hours two weeks ago due to the weather. It is believed to be the first passenger ship to dock in Muskegon since Great Lakes cruises resumed in the 1990’s.
