GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – An Ottawa County Circuit Court Jury needed about 10 hours of deliberations before handing down a guilty verdict on second-degree murder charges against Victor Donaldson. He was 16 when he stabbed and killed 18-year-old Ja’Paris Rodgers during a fight between two groups of teens along Riley Street on Holland’s North Side nearly 13 months ago. Prosecutors say that it was a premeditated act of gang violence; Donaldson’s defense contended that it was self-defense. Donaldson could get up to life in prison when he is sentenced by Ottawa County Circurt Court Judge Ed Post is on September 28th.
