HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Weather conditions on Thursday afternoon abated enough for the cruise ship Pearl Mist to leave the Holland Area and head to Mackinac Island. The 335-foot vessel was supposed to stay at the Verplank Dock on Lake Macatawa for just a day when it arrived on Tuesday, but hazardous conditions kept the boat at bay. The ship holds 210 passengers, with six decks and 108 staterooms, and is on a week-long trip from Chicago to Midland, Ontario. The Pearl Mist is expected back for another port-of-call visit later this month.
