GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – The 34-year-old Chicagoland man accused of smashing his pickup truck through the fence at the Grand Haven Coast Guard station following a phone-in bomb threat this past February has entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea.
Matthew Krueger will spend at least the next 60 days at a state forensics center for treatment following the resolution of a separate arson case against him in Oceana County, where he allegedly torched a Golden Township residence where he had been staying.
His plea before Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Ed Post has no bearing on the arson case, in which he was bound over for trial and has been ruled competent to stand trial. Krueger has a pre-trial hearing in Hart on August 31st.
