PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reports three locations in Park Township tested positive for the hemlock wooly adelgid and has declared the entire municipality an “area of concern.” The June discovery comes after a May MDARD announcement that the invasive insect had been successfully removed from Ottawa County, while a HWA infestation around Fennville found two years ago is still being treated. A three-year window is routine for treating this situation. To report a possible HWA detection, contact MDARD at 800-292-3939 or email MDA-info@michigan.gov.
