HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – A vehicle burglary overnight may have been an incident that cracked the case of a rash of juvenile-led criminal activity in a neighborhood on Holland’s North Side.
Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a break in of a parked vehicle on Windquest Drive, in the vicinity of Riley Street and 132nd Avenue, and it led them about a half mile to the area of Riley and Amwood Drive, where they encountered two youths, aged 12 and 15. They allegedly told the deputies of their involvement in several burglaries, and a short time later, another juvenile was located, with stolen loot taken from yet-unreported incidents recovered.
Throughout the day, detectives identified other youths that may have been involved in several similar crimes over the past few weeks, but no precise number has been determined, as some of these incidents have not been reported. Deputies aren’t saying at this point whether these actions are gang-related. The three juveniles questioned by deputies have been turned over to the custody of their parents.
Tips to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer are welcome in this ongoing investigation.
