KALAMAZOO, MI (WHTC) – A nearly six-year-long federal prison sentence was handed down to a 22-year-old Muskegon Heights man for being a felon in possession of a firearm. A plea agreement kept Xavier McCarty from facing a more serious firearm theft from a licensed dealer charge. McCarty broke into a Robinson Township gun shop last October 14th, throwing 11 handguns into a duffel bag, but then dropped the bag when deputies arrived and was captured a short distance away.
