LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County was supplanted by Mackinac County as having the lowest unemployment rate in Michigan during June. In numbers from the state Department of Technology, Management and Budget, Ottawa remained steady at four percent, while Mackinac fell to 3.7 percent. Allegan County rose from sixth in May to fifth in June with a tenth of a percentage point reduction to 4.3 percent. A year ago, joblessness stood at 5.8 percent in Ottawa County and six percent even in Allegan County.
