JENISON, MI (WHTC) – Jenison School District officials are assessing the damage caused when an SUV struck a cyclist on Baldwin Street at 20th Avenue around 9 this morning and then smashed into Sandy Hill Elementary School. Glenn Ortego was crossing on a red light when he was hit, while Shirley Brisbin lost control trying to avoid a collision and drove into a corner of the building. The 59-year-old Jenison man was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in serious condition, while rescue crews extricated the 73-year-old Jenison woman, who suffered bumps and bruises. An investigation continues.
