HOLLAND (WHTC) – The 50th anniversary celebration at Windmill Island Gardens continues Sunday with the island’s Golden Anniversary Party. Activities run from noon until 4 p.m. and will include wooden shoe races, rolling hoops, rides on the antique Dutch carousel, and farm animals from the Critter Barn. The DeGraaf Nature Center will lead a scavenger hunt, and there will also be Dutch children’s stories at 1 and 3 p.m. Admission to the park is free, and you’ll be able to purchase 50th anniversary merchandise, including lapel pins, a commemorative ornament, tote bags, flour ground at DeZwaan in special 50th anniversary cloth bags, and the book “DeZwaan: The True Story of America’s Authentic Dutch Windmill,” written by Alisa Crawford, the island’s event coordinator and DeZwaan’s miller.
