HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Windmill Island Gardens is turning 50 years old, and will not be without a birthday party celebrating the occasion.
From noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, the island will host a variety of free family activities, including wooden shoe races, rolling hoops, and rides on the antique Dutch carousel.
Children’s activities will be also be available, including a scavenger hunt led by the De Graaf Nature Center and Dutch children’s stories. The Critter Barn will bring farm animals to visit the island.
Anniversary merchandise will be available for purchase in the island’s gift shop, including commemorative ornaments, lapel pins, mugs, tote bags, and, of course, flour ground by the DeZwaan windmill.
