OLIVE TWP, MI (WHTC) – A rollover injury accident has sent three people to Holland Hospital.
Yesterday evening Ottawa County Deputies were dispatched to U.S. 31 and Port Sheldon Road when Greg Hodge, 69, of Traverse City failed to stop at a red light. Upon arrival, deputies and medical staff found two vehicles that had patients entrapped from the way the vehicles came to rest and Olive Township Rescue had to use their jaws of life to remove the patients.
According to Sgt. Brian Buter of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Hodge was SB on U.S. 31 in a 2014 Toyota Tacoma and failed to stop at a red light. At the same time Angela Holthof, 39, of Allendale was EB in a Pontiac Montana on Port Sheldon Street and entered the intersection on a green light the same time as Hodge.
Hodge’s vehicle struck Holdhof’s vehicle on the front side and forced it 50 yards south from the intersection. Both north and south lanes of U.S. 31 had partially shut down during the investigation and clean up efforts.
Holthof is in serious condition at Holland Hospital and her passenger Katie Holthof, 10, of Allendale is listed in stable condition. Her other passenger Taylor Holthof, 12, al of Allendale was not injured in the crash.
Greh Hodge was not injured but his passenger Sharon Hodge, 67, of Traverse City was taken to Holland Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
All drivers were wearing their seatbelts and Hodge was cited for failing to stop at a red light.
The crash remains under investigation.
