HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A crash early this morning left one driver pinned inside his vehicle on US 31. At approximately 12:30 am, 26-year-old Holland resident Ernesto Cantu and his 19-year-old passenger, Matthew Sherry, was travelling south bound on US 31 in Holland when the vehicle was struck by a car that was trying to cross the intersection of US 31 and James Street. The second vehicle was driven by 22-year-old Holland resident Juan Enriquez-Garcia. After the cars collided, Cantu was pinned inside of his vehicle and injured. Garcia and Cantu’s passenger Sherry were unharmed in the crash. The Holland Fire Department was able to extricate Cantu from the vehicle and taken to Holland Hospital. He is currently listed in stable condition. Enriquez-Garcia told police that he didn’t see the other vehicle as he was trying to cross the highway, but the Ottawa County Sheriff Department cited him for failing to yield the right of way.
