PARK TOWNSHIP (WHTC) – Park Township fire officials are investigating the cause of an early-morning fire that damaged the stairs and observation deck at Ottawa County’s Tunnel Park. Lt. Andy Slagh of the Park Township Fire Department says a boater on Lake Michigan spotted the flames about 6:15 Friday morning. When firefighters arrived, a section of the stairs was fully engulfed in flames. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put the flames out. Ottawa County Parks Operations Director Jason Boerger says the stairs are gone, but you can still get to the beach by using the tunnel at the park.
