HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County’s Community Mental Health has had its budget cut by $2 million dollars, leading to the equivalent of 35 full-time employees to being laid off.
Community Mental Health provides support and treatment to Ottawa County’s 2,600 residents who are mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or abusing substances.
The organization received a 62 percent cut in funding from the state’s general fund – dropping from $3.4 million in fiscal year 2014 to $1.4 million dollars in fiscal year 2015.
Further complications in funding could cause Community Mental Health to see another $7 million drop in funding in the near future.
