GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – While same sex couples all over the country are celebrating their right to get married after the Supreme Court ruling yesterday, folks in West Michigan felt the need to display their love with pride. In Grand Haven, people from all walks of life converged onto Grand Haven City Hall to wave rainbow flags, hold up signs, and encourage other people driving pass the building to enjoy the moment. Many drivers along Washington Street waved or honked backed at the people in the rally, including the people riding Grand Haven’s trolley. The rally was organized by the Michigan Association of Civil Rights Activists and Supporters of Marriage Equality. Holland is also getting in on the gay pride action by holding the Holland Area Pride Event today. This event features music entertainment, a petting zoo, a silent auction, and more. It takes place at Window on the Waterfront from noon to 5p.m and at the Holland VFW from 7pm to 10pm.
