HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Local furniture-maker Haworth has donated 70 acres of property to Project Clarity in an effort to improve water quality in the Holland area.
The $1 million project is part of a plan to remove unwanted nutrients from nearby waterways that feeds harmful algea that can negatively impact both health and the local boating industry. The plan is to reconstruct thw waterway and add natural vegetation that will absorb unwanted nutrients in the water.
Local governments will also play a role in the effort to improve water quality both through funding and by making the public aware of the issue.
The project is expected to begin next week and it should take about two months to complete.
