SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC) – A single vehicle crash sent a Spring Lake man to North Ottawa Community Hospital then to the Ottawa County jail yesterday evening.
The 22-year-old man whose name is not being released pending arraignment, suffered non-life-threatening injuries according to Sgt. Kristi Wendt of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. Investigation shows that a 2012 Mustang was northbound on Spring Lake Road when the vehicle lost control, went off the west side of the road, struck a power pole and then rolled over several times coming to rest just south of the intersection of West Spring Lake Road and Van Wagoner.
The passenger of the vehicle Joseph Melamed, 22, of Spring Lake received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene seeking his own treatment.
The driver has been charged with a misdemeanor. The power pole was broken in the crash and crews worked into the night repairing it.
Both the driver and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
