JAMESTOWN TWP, MI – (WHTC) An 8-year-old boy, Austin Lotterman who was struck by a car yesterday, has died of his injuries at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital according to M-Live.
Lotterman was airlifted to the hospital, where he later died. Witnesses say the boy ran in the yard up the road where he stopped, looked to this right, but did not look left. He was struck by Todd Berends, 54, of Holland.
Berends, a physician assistant, provided medical care until rescuers arrived.He did not see the boy untill he was in his lane and swerved into the oncoming lane, but the passenger side of his vehicle hit the boy.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Austin, the boy was unresponsive when police arrived.
Police have notified the boy’s school, Heritage Christian Schools.
