GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – A 52-year-old Grand Rapids woman waived a preliminary hearing in Grand Rapids District Court and was bound over for trial on open murder charges. Prosecutors claim that Robin Root confessed to killing then-60-year-old realtor Janna Kelly in late 2007 due to a landlord-tenant dispute and dumped the victim’s body into a field south of Grand Haven. Root was arrested by cold-case investigators last month, and her attorney told reporters about efforts to have that confession thrown out.
