DEARBORN, MI (WHTC) – Michigan’s average gas price is up another ten-cents a gallon yet analysts are saying that gas prices are peaking and should start to taper off now that Memorial Day is over.
Triple-A Michigan says the average is now two-dollars-72-cents, higher by a dime from a week ago but down one-dollar-eleven-cents from this time last year.
The cheapest gas in in the Grand Rapids/Muskegon/Holland area at two-68, while drivers in Traverse City have the most expensive gasoline at two-76.
The higher prices in recent weeks in the Midwest are blamed on production problems at an ExxonMobile refinery in Illinois.
