UNDATED (WHTC) – As Tuesday’s election results were tabulated by the clerks’ offices in Grand Haven and Allegan, nine local ballot issues have been unofficially determined.
In Port Sheldon Township, a one-tenth mill library operations renewal question passed with 61 percent of the vote.
In Dorr Township, a half-mill increase for fire equipment replacement and three mills for roads went to defeat with 59 and 64 percent of the vote, respectively.
In Martin Township, a nine-tenth of a mill for roads was defeated with 53 percent of the vote.
In Salem Township, a five-mill road request passed with 55 percent of the vote.
Among school districts seeking annual renewal of the 18-mill non-homestead levy, it passed in West Ottawa by 64 percent, in Fennville by 65 percent, in Grand Haven by 62 percent, in Hudsonville by 61 percent and in Hopkins by 57 percent.
In Ottawa County, 28 percent of registered voters cast ballots, while 26 percent came to the polls in Allegan County. Results in Allegan County, which had been a focus of County Commissioners after two slow returns during last year’s elections, were more prompt, with unofficial final tallies available around 12 Midnight.
Each county’s Board of Canvassers will officially certify the results of the election later this month, with no recount challenges expected.
