ZEELAND TWP, MI (WHTC) -A two vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital Saturday morning.
Riley Douglas Miller, 17, of Zeeland ran a stop sign at 80th street and Ransom in Zeeland Township. Rebecca Lynn Sloothaak, 50, of Holland hit the jeep Miller was driving.
Miller told the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department he was distracted while driving according to Sgt. Kevin Altman. Miller’s jeep was struck in the back by Sloothaak who was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry. Miller’s vehicle traveled into a field and then onto it’s roof.
Miller was transported to Zeeland Community Hospital and siffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Sloothaak suffered serious injuries to her arm and leg and was transported to Spectrum hospital in Grand Rapids.
Both drivers were wearing their sealbelt and the crash remains under investigation.
