HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 47-year-old Holland man was killed on Saturday afternoon when a vehicle struck his bicycle on 18th Street at River Avenue. Public Safety officers say that the victim, whose name wasn’t immediately disclosed, was pedaling north on the sidewalk along River when he attempted to cross 18th Avenue and was struck by the westbound car. The cyclist was taken to Holland Hospital, where he died from a closed head injury. The unnamed driver, a 28-year-old Holland Township man, was not hurt. Alcohol was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
