ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – An 18-year-old Holland man will serve between 57 months and 15 years in prison for the shooting death of a 22-year-old Chicagoland-area man at a Harbor Village apartment unit on January 5th. Davon Walker pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges. as prosecutors say accidental gunplay led to Derrick Ruff-Shingles receiving a mortal chest wound.
There was a reported scuffle between family members of the victim and the accused outside of the Allegan County Circuit Courtroom of Margaret Bakker after the sentencing. Deputies were able to break things up without any injuries reported, and while no arrests were immediately made, County Prosecutor Fred Anderson’s office will review this matter before making any decisions.
