BOSTON, MA (WHTC) – A Rockford native man is celebrating after being the first American to cross the finish line at yesterday’s Boston Marathon.
Dathan Ritzenhein placed seventh overall in the 199th running of the historic race. Yesterday marked Ritzenhein’s first Boston Marathon. He finished it in two hours, 11 minutes and 20 seconds. He’s a Rockford native and a former NCAA champion, U.S. record holder and a three-time Olympian.
He has the best time by an American for the race and is the second Rockford high grad to nab the top American time at the Boston Marathon.
