West Ottawa Teacher Placed on Leave After CSC Charges Filed

PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) – West Ottawa Public School Superintendent Tom Martin issued a letter to “family and friends” on Wednesday, saying that teacher and head wrestling coach Matt Powell has been put on administrative leave after being charged on a fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct count involving a minor. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detectives say that, at this point, only one victim was involved. No other details were disclosed. Martin assured parents that the safety and security of students “is our top priority.”
