MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – The Disability Network of West Michigan is raising funds to build a boardwalk at Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon.
The Walkway would connect the park’s snack shack and the edge of Lake Michigan. They are selling boards for $50 each which can be engraved and need to see 520 of them in an effort to make the beach more accessible to those with disabilities.
After the boardwalk is in place, they hope to buy equiptment for those with disabilities to get into the water. The Disability Newtork of West michigan hopes to have the boardwalk in place before Memorial Day weekend.
Pere Marquette Beach is a free beach and once was named by USA Today, one of the top ten pristine beaches in the world.
