Allegan Co. Board to Approve 911 Surcharge Hike

ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – The Allegan County Board of Commissioners were expected today to approve a twenty-cent monthly increase in phone bills to an even three dollars for 9-1-1 operations, beginning on July 1^st. This is the highest that the county can charge for this service, based on voter approval last August, and county staff say that increased operational costs are the reason behind this hike. The ceiling will remain in place through 2019.
