PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) – About 20 thousand dollars damage was estimated by Park Township fire investigators due to a house blaze just before noon on Saturday. A seven-year-old boy told crews that he had lit a piece of paper on fire in a bedroom of the residence off of Lilac Avenue, near James Street west of 144th Avenue. The child became frightened, tossed the burning paper in a plastic bag and threw it under a bed. The smoldering bag ignited, and despite the efforts of the youth’s father to douse the flames with a garden hose, the blaze spread. Crews were able to control the flames quickly upon arrival, and there were no injuries reported.
