HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The rising water levels in Lake Michigan have made Kirk Park’s dog area smaller than last year. The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers predicts water levels to continue to ride which is great for boaters, but not so much for the the dog beach on Lakeshore Drive in Grand Haven Township.
Jason Boerger, park operation manager told the Parks and Recreation Commission that if the water levels increase, people may have to walk through water and have no beach area to stand on while their animals play in the surf.
Park crews are also renovating the Kirk Park Lodge to make the facility compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
