PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) – As retiring State School Superintendent Mike Flanagan visits schools in the West Ottawa district, he has lifted seven of 11 charter school authorizers from a list of possible suspension. This includes Grand Valley State University, which charters Black River Public School in Holland. The 11 were cited last summer for reportedly “murky decisions,” although the exact transgressions were not disclosed by the Department of Education. The matter is on hold until Brian Whitson takes over as chief in July.
