ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – A psychiatric exam has been ordered for Corey LaValley as a preliminary hearing into open murder and arson charges has been postponed for up to two months in Allegan District Court. The 32-year-old Dorr man is accused of shooting his 33-year-old girlfriend Debra Shephard and her two children, aged 12 and 10, in a mobile home on March 9th. Detectives claim that he then torched the trailer the next day in an effort to burn the evidence; LaValley was captured later that day in Charlotte.
